Diversity and Equity Training

Diversity and Equity training is a key component of diverse recruitment, promotion and retention. The Office of the Provost, Faculty of Health Sciences, Human Resources, Equity & Inclusion and other equity-seeking groups and individuals, collaborate to deliver Diversity and Equity training for staff, faculty and students at McMaster. All senior leaders, hiring managers, selection committee members involved in the hiring process, staff and faculty are strongly encouraged to complete diversity and equity training. Employment equity cannot be successful without the participation of staff and faculty.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Training Program

In our efforts to fulfill McMaster University’s commitment to building a culture of inclusivity and advance employment equity, Human Resources Services and the Equity and Inclusion Office in collaboration with various campus partners are pleased to present the Human Rights and Equity Fundamentals Training, as foundational learning for contextualizing diversity, equity and inclusion at McMaster.

The training is highly encouraged for chairs, directors, hiring managers and supervisors to facilitate greater understanding of human rights and equity fundamentals.

The Staff Hiring Guidelines provides guidance and consolidates resources to assist in conducting fair and equitable searches for staff at McMaster University. It presents ideas for how to help your department or faculty lay the foundation for attracting and successfully recruiting diverse candidates.

We have recently developed an Employment Equity Postcard, Employment Equity Handbook and encourage managers, supervisors, chairs and directors to share the resources with new employees, committee members and post on information boards within your areas.
