Silent Auction for United Way

The third annual Silent Auction for the United Way took place on December 2, 2009 at the MUSC Marketplace and raised $2,454.  Over seventy items from a host of generous sponsors were available for bidding by faculty, staff and students.  Items included Toronto Raptors’ tickets, theatre tickets, hotel stays, President George’s parking spot for one week and an iPod Touch.

Two new opportunities for increased student involvement contributed to the success of the Silent Auction.  A newly created student co-chair position on the United Way Committee was recently filled by Brennan Reurink who was active in planning the fundraising event. 

A new campus club “United Way for McMaster” headed by Christine Ibrahim provided members to help staff the event.Thank you to our sponsors and successful bidders.  Your contribution enables the United Way to support  134 programs at 72 agencies in the Greater Hamilton and Burlington area that can change lives, change neighbourhoods and change communities.  

You can contribute to the United Way by completing a donation form. 

Contributions can be made through payroll deduction, cheque or credit card.  Send the completed form to:

If you choose to contribute through payroll deduction, be sure to complete and sign the bottom portion of the form.  Please note that United Way deductions can be deducted from a maximum of 24 pays.  Because the payroll processing deadline for the first pay in January has passed, if you choose to have 24 deductions, a retroactive deduction will be taken from subsequent pays.
