Joined Committee: 1990's Department: Retired (Mathematics & Statistics)
A little bit about me: I retired in 2004 after 30+ years as the Administrator in the Mathematics & Statistics Department. However, I still wanted to maintain my ties with McMaster on a volunteer basis. I have been Co-Chair of McMaster's Annual Children's Party since before my retirement and have been lucky enough to see the Party steadily grow into a major University event. I'm now chairing the Entertainment & Decorations Sub-Committee. I have also represented McMaster's Retirees on the United Way Committee over the past few years and for the past 6 years, have been Membership Chair on the McMaster University Retirees Association Council, looking after a database of almost 2000 McMaster retirees, as well as organizing their Annual Christmas Lunches and AGM's. This year, I was asked to be the first 'Seniors Representative' on Councillor Russ Powers' Dundas Community Council. In my spare time I love to travel and cruising is a passion having completed 34 cruises to date.
Why I volunteer: Now that I'm retired, I feel it is time to give back to the Community and McMaster. The Children's Party has always been dear to my heart and I would hate to see it cease to be after all these years. We have fought hard to make a wonderful and worthwhile event that gives back to all Mac employees, retirees and their families.

A little bit about me: I am a busy mom to 5 kids and a long time employee of Anatomy.
Why I volunteer: I have children who have enjoyed and continue to enjoy this party. I wanted to get involved so the party could continue to improve and help as many children at McMaster celebrate the holiday season as possible. As a former Girl Guide leader, I've spent years working on organizing children's activities and was excited to be able to contribute to the McMaster community.

Joined Committee: 2007 Department: Psychology, Neuroscience & Behaviour Title: Research Assistant
A little bit about me: I have been working at McMaster for 15 years and feel extremely fortunate to be a part of the McMaster Community. I worked in Psychiatry for 6 years and I am now completing my 9th year in the Department of Psychology, Neuroscience and Behaviour. I feel grateful for having been given the opportunity to work at McMaster University and giving back to the university by getting involved in anything that makes McMaster a better place is very important to me.
Why I volunteer: McMaster has provided so much more than just a job for me. I feel that it is important to not only be part of your immediate lab, and Department but also to be a part of McMaster University as a Community. By doing the things that I enjoy (photography and gift baskets) I can contribute to the success of the party and give back to the University that has done so much for me. I am also able to meet so many wonderful people who work at McMaster outside of our department!
