Nutrition & Weight Loss

Buyer beware - it is important to ensure that any nutritional information you utilise comes from a reliable source.  All of the resources included on this webpage comes from various Public Health units, the Ontario Government, Health Canada and Dietitians of Canada.

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

In Ontario, the term 'nutritionist' is not regulated by law - with the exception of Public Health Nutritionists who have a Master's Degree and are registered with the College of Dietitians of Ontario.  In Ontario, anyone can call themselves a nutritionist - and may indeed be 'certified' - by a weekend course or even by a web ordered certificate.  Be an informed consumer. If you need information specific for your health needs, consult the College of Dietitians of Ontario listing of Registered Dietitians (RD).  RD's are regulated by the college and must have a four year accredited undergraduate degree in foods and nutrition (or equivalent) and a minimum of a 35 week internship after which they must write extensive qualifying exams.
