A little bit about me: I like to help serve others in a meaningful way. I've volunteered over the years in a variety of different capacities, including sound technician, soccer coach, and counselor. I'm just an average guy trying to make a difference.

Why I volunteer: I have a strong desire to promote health-awareness for the campus community.I'm always excited to see people make an effort to improve their well-being: physically, mentally, and emotionally! I have realized how important it is to eat well and to exercise - and to take some stress-releasing time out.I think it is natural to try to encourage each other to reach a higher level of fitness or state of wellness. "We're all in this together" - we might as well help each other out!

A little bit about me: I am a resident of Westdale and a mother of 3 daughters. I have a B.A. in Management/Business Economics from the University of Guelph. I was an active volunteer in the community and the education system prior to my employment at McMaster in Recreation.

Why I volunteer: I am a strong believer in a healthy balanced lifestyle that includes exercise for the body and mind. I want to be able to share that enthusiasm with others, and promote the fabulous activities McMaster has to offer.

Title: Senior Manager, University Sustainability

A little bit about me: Holding the position of Senior Manager, University Sustainability at McMaster, my role is to work collaboratively to facilitate the implementation of sustainability initiatives that will help McMaster develop a culture of sustainability and become a leader in sustainability among other Canadian universities. I am a PhD candidate in McMaster’s School of Geography and Earth Sciences where I am studying the attitudinal variables of commuter modal preferences and the associated implications on transportation policy and planning aimed at increasing the use of active modes. I have an Honors B.A. and M.A. from McMaster University. I have been a resident of Hamilton for seven years. I enjoy hiking the local trail network with Petra, my 14 year old border collie, and my weekly visits to the Hamilton Farmer's Market. I lead a healthy active lifestyle by walking or biking to work, playing intramural flag football and taking ballroom dancing lessons.

Why I volunteer: The Healthy Workplace Group has all the components of a great committee: The members are fun, friendly, open, inclusive, and are all truly engaged. The projects are enjoyable to work on and the outcomes are meaningful. Although participating and volunteering in the individual events, such as Nordic Stride, Walk with the Boss, or the Healthy Workplace Fair, is a mandatory component, I look forward to the opportunity to take part and be involved in such exciting initiatives. Being a member of this committee has provided me with the opportunity to meet and work with a great group of people and to take part in a number of amazing healthy workplace initiatives.
