Faculty
The McMaster University Faculty Association is the professional association that represents all faculty members and professional librarians of McMaster University through the Joint Committee. The role of this committee is found in "The Joint Administration/Faculty Association Committee to Consider University Financial Matters and to Discuss and Negotiate Matters Related to Terms and Conditions of Employment of Faculty."
TMG
The Management Group (TMG) encompasses all non-academic employees at McMaster University who are excluded from bargaining units at the University.
CAW
The Canadian Auto Workers (CAW) represents all non-management, non-academic employees of McMaster University in Ontario, with the exception of non-academic employees employed for less than one year and those in TMG.
Hospitality Services
Employees in the Department of Hospitality Services on the McMaster University campus are represented by the Service Employees' International Union (SEIU), Local 2.on.
Machinists
The Service Employees' International Union (SEIU), Local 2.on, represents employees in the Engineering Machine Shop, Nuclear Instrument Machine Shop and Senior Sciences Instrument Machine Shop.
Operating Engineers
The International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 772, (IUOE), represents all stationary engineers and persons primarily employed as their helpers in the Power House at McMaster University. Operations and Maintenance The Service Employees' International Union (SEIU), Local 2.on, represents all employees of the University involved in the maintenance and service of grounds and buildings of the University on its present campus.
Parking and Transit Services
The McMaster University Staff Association, CLC Local 2003-1, (MUSA), represents all employees of Parking and Transit Services employed at McMaster University in the City of Hamilton.
Security Officers
The United Steelworkers of America, Local 9597, (USWA) represents all Security Officers in the employ of McMaster University on its present campus, save and except parking attendants, sergeants, and persons above the rank of sergeant.
Sessional Lecturers
The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), Local 3906, Unit 2, represents all employees of McMaster University employed in Ontario as Sessional Lecturers and Hourly-Rated Music Instructors having full or joint full responsibility for the teaching of one or more University degree credit courses.
Teaching Assistants
The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), Local 3906, Unit 1, represents all part-time employees, including professional engineers, in Ontario, employed as teaching assistants, demonstrators, tutors and super tutors, markers, and research assistants who receive a research assistantship in lieu of teaching assistantship.
Casual on-call Custodial Workers
Casual on-call custodial workers are represented by SIEU Local 2.on. The University and the SEIU are currently in collective bargaining to reach a first agreement.
